I want to give this image the opposite of a heart. Which lesson are we supposed to learn?
Artists are better than other people and more deserving of not getting shot. So if you’re going to shoot someone, shoot a single mother working three jobs (unless she has a gallery opening in the next month or so).
You can also shoot any of those brown people around the world who are dumb enough to spend most of their time carrying water to their families instead of making art.
More generally, the job or career you’re fortunate to have landed or unlucky to be stuck with is the sole determiner of your value. And if all you do is build bridges or fix power lines, then fuck you, you expendable non-artist douche.
You know all those things in the Bill of Rights that people fought for a couple of centuries ago with an early version of this machine? Those little words without which you might be in prison just for trying to be an artist? Fuck that shit.
Oh, and fuck science, too.
Yeah, I know it’s a parody of Woody Guthrie’s guitar. But it’s a bad parody, and people seem to like it for the unironic reading, which is disappointing because I don’t think I’ve ever seen a better example of upper-class pseudoliberal entitlement porn.
Oh but hey, at least they used Helvetica.
